| Intimate Shavers | Brazilian wax often called a Full Bikini wax is a technique where most or all of the hair is removed from the bikini area. The following is a list of frequently asked questions about waxing or shaving your pubic area. What is a Brazilian bikini wax? Brazilian waxing refers to complete hair removal around the anus, perineum and vagina. In its original concept, a strip of hair about two fingers is left in the front. To some people it means removing all the hair from the bikini area. Technically this is a full bikini wax or a Sphinx Wax. The Brazilian wax technique has gained in popularity and is commonly done at home or in salons across the world. This is an extremely intimate type of waxing and can be painful. It will only be performed after careful consultation. How closely you chose to trim, shave or wax your pubic hair is a personal preference. You should do whatever makes you comfortable, whether it's a totally bare look, a more natural look, or somewhere in between. Why should I have a Brazilian Wax? It allows men and women to comfortably wear revealing swimwear and lingerie. It has an air of excitement about it. It removes pubic hair as a bacteria and smell source. What preparation is necessary before my Brazilian Wax? For waxing to be effective, Your hair should be 1/8 to 1/4 inches long, depending on the thickness of the hair. You can do this at home if you prefer. This is, incidentally, the sort of length you need to use an intimate shaver. What do I wear while I have a Brazilian Wax? Well obviously nothing! If you are uncomfortable, the Brazilian wax can be done with a towel draped over your midsection. Some salons offer paper thongs or paper panties but these are generally ineffective. We recommend that you wear a comfortable pair of full cotton panties to a salon. What is the procedure for Brazilian bikini waxing? If necessary, the hair is initially shortened with scissors or an electric trimmer, then the wax is applied and removed a little at a time. The hair is removed with the wax and the procedure continues. The wax used for this procedure is varies with the salon, the manufacturer and the heating method. In essence the wax "shrink-wraps" around the hairs, and is pulled off with the entrapped hair after it dries or solidifies. Cloth strips may or may not be used depending on the bikini waxing product being used. Good Brazilian wax is made for sensitive skin, so it's kind to the delicate bikini area. While waxing, it's best to pull the skin tight, so you may have to help stabilize an area with your hand, especially when towards the middle of the labia where there's no firm bone or muscle underneath. Stray hairs may be cut, tweezed, trimmed or shaved. Many people are using shavers to achieve the Brazilian look. This is efficient and cost effective and has none of the pain of a wax removal. It achieves the same results and look too! If you are doing the Brazilian with an intimate shaver be sure to use a high quality talcum or baby powder with your shaver. After the hairs are removed, a good moisturiser is recommended. A talcum or baby powder may be used as well. Will I have to get into strange positions? The beautician needs to get to all those unmentionable places - so yes you may have to get into the doggy style position or the nappy changing position to allow access for the removal of the hair. Remember that a traditional Brazilian includes the labia and the area that reaches into the buttocks so you have to expose your bum crack as well. Will my Brazilian wax hurt or be painful? Yes expect it to be sore and hurt - there is pain when you have a Brazilian wax. Some people are pain tolerant and some people are not. It also depends on the beautician, the product , the waxing techniques and the salon. Some women get a buzz out of the process. A properly done full bikini wax should not hurt too much! If its too painfull or the thought of it is too painfull, you can always resort to a personal intimate shaver which is pain free and after effect free. Some people take a couple of painkillers before going to their salon for a Brazilian wax. A glass or two of wine or champagne is another way to stop the Brazilian wax from hurting. What are the possible side effects of brazilian bikini waxing? Every person is different, so its hard to predict exactly what will happen to you. Most people do not experience reactions beyond redness and minor irritation. Hair may break at the root during waxing, causing some hairs to grow out faster. The odd ingrowing hair may occur. Wax burn may also occur if a heated wax is used at too high a temperature. What precautions should be taken after a Brazilian Wax?
How long does a Brazilian bikini wax take? Depending on the wether your salon is experienced or not, a Brazilian wax will take between twenty and forty five minutes. Each person is different and factors like hair growth, hair density and skin sensitivity play an important role in how long it takes to complete your bikini wax. How long will my Brazilian Wax last? In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week. With regular waxing the length of time between treatments will increase. Continued waxing results in sparse hair re-growth. Accordingly the results can last 3 to 6 weeks depending on the individual’s hair re-growth rate. Heat stimulates hair growth, therefore hair grows quicker in the summer than in the winter. Can a man get a Brazilian bikini wax? Absolutely! Many men are routinely waxing and shaving to achieve a smooth genital region. Many a man is shaving and waxing various parts of their bodies for smoothness and the all clean sharper sculpted image. The procedures are identical for both men and women so wether you are shaving or waxing the questions here apply equally to both a man and a woman. What areas of the body can be waxed? Almost any part of the body can be waxed or shaved. It is awlways wise to test a small area first for wax or shaving sensitivity. Some frequently waxed areas for women are legs, underarms, bikini line, eyebrows and face. For men: chest, leg, arms, and back. The exceptions for waxing are the male genitals, beards, nipples, eyelashes, and inside the ears. What is the difference between waxing and shaving? Well first off waxing is more painful. Shaving with a wet razor is effective and can be done at home. Wet razors are effective and results depend on your pubic shaving technique. Shaving with an intimate shaver is fast and effective and the results are excellent. Shaving is easily done with an intimate shaver in the privacy of your home or apartment! Shaving is quicker than a wax and generally doesnt require all the paraphenalia of waxing and a professional salon is obviously not required! Shaven areas grow more quickly and the areas need to be maintained more frequenltly. What is a pubic hair stencil or shape? Men and women are sculpting their hair into shapes like stars, crosses, tulips and lightning bolts. This is done just as one shapes or cuts the hair on your head. You can cut any shape you want into your hair, stencils just act as a guide to help you get a perfect shape. You need a trimmer,a pair of scissors and possibly a pair of tweezers to get the perfect shape! What is folliculitis? Folliculitis is also called Pseudofolliculitis barbae, Tinea barbae or Barber's itch. Folliculitis occurs when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing, blockage of the actual follicle, or shaving. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles becom infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). Barber's itch is a staph infection of the hair follicles in the bearded area of the face, usually the upper lip or the bikini area. Shaving with wet razor aggravates the condition. Tinea barbae is almost identical to barber's itch, except the infection is caused by a fungus. Pseudofolliculitis barbae is a disorder occurring primarily in Black men. If curly beard hairs are cut too short, they may curve back into the skin and cause inflammation.
