Waxing problems and hair removal irritations

Waxing or shaving with a wet razor can result in nasty red bumps, irritations, ingrowing hairs, shaving rash, barbae and folliculitis. We will deal with each of these conditons individually:-

Red Bumps and Skin Irritation:-

Skin irritations and Red bumps occur from using wax where the hair is literally ripped out of the skin. No self respecting hair was designed to be pulled out by its roots. Quite naturally when a hair is forcibly removed some damage is done to the sub strata from which it was pulled. In most people this is not a problem and some discomfort maybe experienced for a short while. In people with senstitive skins the discomfort may last for up to a week.

Folliculitis:-

Folliculitis is also called Pseudofolliculitis barbae, Tinea barbae or Barber's itch. Folliculitis occurs when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing, blockage of the actual follicle, or shaving. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles becom infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph).

Barber's itch :-

Barbers's itch is a staph infection of the hair follicles in the bearded area of the face, usually the upper lip or the bikini area. Shaving with a razor aggravates the condition. Tinea barbae is almost identical to barber's itch, except the infection is caused by a fungus.

Shaver's rash:-

Shaver's rash is exactly the same as barber's itch. Shavers rash is also related to skin damage done to the skin be removing the epidermis due to too close a shave. This is particularly so in the bikini area which is super sensitive and may not be being shaved on a daily basis. An Electric shaver simply does not cause shaver's rash

Ingrowing hairs

An ingrown hair occurs when the hair turns back on itself and grows in circular direction without protruding from the skin surface. We have dedicated a whole page to ingrowing hairs. All of these follicle problems can be avoided by using an electric razor and our personal shavers are the best there are on the market and are specifically designed to prevent these conditions from arising with all their related discomforts.

Personal shavers should not be used to remove bulk hair in the pubic area, the underarm area or anywhere else for that matter.
